Amazing A-Level Results Again at The Poly
Students at the OFSTED rated "Outstanding" Woolwich Polytechnic School were today celebrating
their A-level results - the best in the history of the school. Overall, 64% of grades were awarded at
A* - B, with a striking 45% of students achieving A*-A grades. The overwhelming majority of
students were thrilled to get into the universities of their choice, with approximately 20% securing
places at a Russell Group university, including students studying medicine at King's College London.
Head of Sixth Form, Anne Bassi said: "Our motto of Tomorrow's Leaders is certainly pertinent to our
diligent Class of 2017. Both students and staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that no stone was
left unturned in achieving the best academic results possible."
One such student, Olegs Korolovs (A*/A*/A/A) secured his place to study Architecture at one of the
world's finest institutions: the University of Cambridge. He said: "I am so pleased! The staff here at
the Poly are so dedicated to ensuring the best: the best teaching, the best support, the best results.
This, combined with my dedication to study, has meant I can now go to one of the best universities
in the world." Another future architect, Kevin He, (A*/A/A) also secured a place at the University of
Cambridge who, on receiving his results, announced: "I am so excited, I still can't believe I will
packing my bags and heading off to Cambridge."
Future Computer Scientist and Headboy, Simi Adeshina (A*/A*/A*), paid tribute to the school when
he said: "This is a place where your limits will be pushed beyond what you thought possible with the
help of incredibly talented teachers as well as a supportive sixth form team to whom your well-being
and success is their number one priority. I achieved 100% in 6 of my maths modules, which is
beyond what I hoped for. It is sad to end this chapter of my life, but exciting as the next one begins
at the University of Warwick."
Co - Headteacher, Mr Plumb said, "Our Sixth Form continues to go from strength to strength. The
combination of our confident, mature and hardworking students with our highly-skilled, dedicated
body of staff is the secret to our continued success." An elated Mr Parker, Co-Headteacher, said,
"Another hugely successful year for our Sixth Form students. Here at the Poly, we encourage our
students to become successful independent learners and our results are testament to this."
It is no surprise that Woolwich Polytechnic is the Sixth Form of choice for many in South East London
and is substantially oversubscribed.
