Key Information and Events

We look forward to welcoming Year 9 back to a crucial year in their time at Woolwich Polytechnic School. This year our students will decide their GCSE options and begin to consider future paths.

One key focus for the year will be on career and workplace skills, allowing them to develop a deeper understanding of the world of work and how they can best prepare. We look forward to working with a range of employers and universities virtually in line with government guidance, who can bring their insight and experience to support our work throughout the year.

Key skills that we will be focussing on will be:

  • Leadership
  • Organisation
  • Respect
  • Resilience
  • Initiative
  • Communication

Linking to this, we will also spend time this year supporting our young people to select the right GCSE options to ensure that they are making the right choices for to suit their ambitious future plans and learning needs.

The GCSE option process will begin in the Spring Term, with detailed information and taster sessions on the KS4 subjects available to them. They will have time to speak with our subject specialist staff and explore each option to ensure they are confident in their choices. We welcome and encourage parents to be part of this process.
