We are currently dealing with an ongoing cyber security incident. The security of our systems and customer data is very important to us, and we have taken immediate action to protect our systems.
We identified some suspicious activity on Sunday 1 September and took action to limit access. We are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, alongside the National Crime Agency and the National Cyber Security Centre.
Although there has been very little impact on our customers so far, the situation is evolving and our investigations have identified that certain customer data has been accessed. This includes some customer names and contact details, including email addresses and home addresses where provided.
Some Oyster card refund data may have also been accessed. This could include bank account numbers and sort codes for a limited number of customers (around 5,000).
If you are affected, we will contact you directly as soon as possible as a precautionary measure, and will offer you support and guidance.
We are doing all we can to protect our services and secure our systems and data. Our proactive measures mean that:
We’re also undertaking an all-staff IT identity check. Although we don’t expect any significant impact to customer journeys as we carry out this process, temporary and limited disruption is possible to some services. Please check before you travel.
We will continue to keep you updated. We are sorry for the inconvenience this incident may cause and thank you for your patience.
Yours sincerely

Councillor Rachel Taggart-Ryan, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Enforcement said: “We want to improve the quality of life and health of our residents. No one should have to worry about being the victim of crime. Unfortunately, valuable theft is on the rise, but we are supporting the Police who are working to locate, arrest and prosecute perpetrators across the borough.
"Prevention is always better than cure though. There are things we can all do to protect ourselves and families by keeping valuables out of sight, or leaving them at home, and staying alert to what's going on around us.”

The Class of 2024 are celebrating yet another set of fantastic results at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys
Headteacher, Mr Tom Lawrence, says:
‘I am delighted and immensely proud to announce that Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys have achieved GCSE results that compare very favourably to previous years. The progress our year 11s have made in a number of subjects has been within the top 10% nationally, the remaining subjects at least at national averages and many more above. Art, photography , graphics, biology, chemistry, physics, maths, sports, design technology French and Spanish stand out as particular successes with results significantly above national averages, with English language, English literature, geography, citizenship, ICT, business, drama and economics showing above national average as well - the range of highly successful subjects mirroring the range of talents our year 11s clearly have. Our success translates to even more deserved opportunity for our outgoing year 11s, many of which we are welcoming back to extend their success in our Sixth Form. I must also congratulate teachers for their enormous efforts and offer my gratitude to parents for supporting their sons and us through these times: everyone’s efforts have been rewarded with great success’.

Extend your Child Benefit claim for your teen today.
It’s time for parents across the UK to extend their Child Benefit claim if their 16-19-year-old is staying in full-time non-advanced education or approved training.
HMRC sent 1.4 million letters between 24 May and 17 July to parents, explaining how to extend their claim. If you haven’t received a letter, there’s no need to worry. You can still extend your Child Benefit via the HMRC app or online where eligible.
We know how important Child Benefit can be to families, so let HMRC know by 31 August if your teen intends to stay in approved education or training.
Extending your Child Benefit ensures you won't miss out on any payments from 31 August. However, if your child changes their mind about further education or training, you can simply let HMRC know online or in the app and we’ll update our records and adjust any payments as needed.
For parents who can’t extend their Child Benefit online, you can still do so by post or by phone.

Sports Day at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys took place on Friday 12th July 2024.
Students spent the first part of the morning completing a sports themed quiz and creating banners for the day in their form groups. Students then headed out to the sports field where the various track and field events began for Year 7, 8 and 9, while Year 10 students took part in a Basketball and Football Tournament.
The day was a great success with many students winning medals and wearing them with pride. A big thank you to the PE department for coordinating the event and to all the staff for their support in ensuring the day ran smoothly.

On Wednesday 10th July 2024 we welcomed students, staff, parents and carers into school for our annual KS3 Prizegiving Evening. A fantastic evening celebrating the achievements of students from Year 7 to Year 9.
We were also treated to a musical interlude ‘Verdansk’ by Dave and a drama performance from ‘Red Pitch’ by Tyrell Williams.
We extend our gratitude to Dr Bolu Eso, our guest speaker. Dr Bolu is an experienced vet and TV star. He is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the British Veterinary Association. He studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest. After graduating, Bolu joined a Veterinary Practice in rural Kent, before moving onto London.
Mr T Lawrence, Headteacher comments, ‘ Prizegiving is about rewarding our vision of ‘Success for Everyone’. But the real prize is the learning our boys have received, the progress they have made, showcasing their talents in a broad range of subjects. They truly deserve the recognition that this ceremony provides; they deserve the applause; they deserve their achievements as the rightful outcome of all their efforts’.

Signpost your pupils to our self-care guide and encourage them to prioritise looking after themselves over the summer holidays – whatever that looks like for them. It’s easy for young people’s routines and healthy habits to go out the window during the summer, which can make it even harder for them to return to school come September. Supporting your pupils to learn about self-care and find accessible, enjoyable forms of it can really help their wellbeing now and in the future. Support for parents and carers |
As you know, many parents and carers struggle over the summer holidays without the essential support that your school provides. Particularly when it comes to managing their child’s behaviour and mental health at home – but you can help. Share our list of activity ideas that can help make tough conversations about mental health easier. There are suggestions for both younger kids and teens.
