Great in Greenwich Awards 2024
Royal Greenwich celebrated its most accomplished young individuals at the Council's second Great in Greenwich Awards ceremony, which took place on Monday 9th September 2024.
Schools were encouraged to nominate students to acknowledge their outstanding accomplishments in GCSEs, A Levels, and BTecs. This special event was hosted in the historic Victoria Hall of Woolwich Town Hall. Teachers and family members beamed with pride as students received certificates honouring their remarkable achievements.
Headteacher, Mr T Lawrence said, "It was such a pleasure to attend this celebration of success for all Greenwich students in years 11 and 13, but particularly enjoyable to celebrate the successes for which our Woolwich Polytechnic students rightly received recognition. Dipesh, Carmen, Jedidiah and Haris, our home-grown talent, collectively raised the bar on what is achievable in our school. Their parents, attending alongside with me, were absolutely delighted and so proud of their children's successes, their applause filling the beautiful setting."
A council spokesperson said: “All of the weeks, months and years of dedication and hard work have paid off for our students – they have achieved truly remarkable things that I am so proud to celebrate. “A huge thank you to all our school leaders and staff who have supported students with their studies and their wellbeing, to help them achieve these incredible results.”
A council spokesperson said: “We are immensely proud of all our students and these awards are a testament to their years of hard work and dedication. “I’m in no doubt that the class of 2024 is going to do wonderful things – whether they want to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or a chef or an artist. They’re proof that a great future starts in Royal Greenwich.”
